Alun Wyn Jones awarded Testimonial
Ospreys third most capped player Alun Wyn Jones, has been awarded a testimonial season for 2017-2018. At two hundred and ten appearances he falls just shy of Duncan Jones, their most capped player, with two hundred and twenty three appearances.
A mere twenty four hours after touching back down on Welsh soil, the Ospreys captain was at the Liberty Stadium for the official launch evening surrounded by friends, family and by both former and current team-mates.
His career with the club has spanned over twelve years, captaining the side ninety nine times and scoring twenty one tries over that period.
Speaking at the event Jones said:
"When I played my first game for the Ospreys, at the Liberty Stadium in August 2005, I could never have imagined that I'd still be here 12 years later."
"I'm honoured to have been able to represent my home region for so long, and that they still want me here to be honest. I'm extremely grateful to the Ospreys Supporters Club who have made this Testimonial year possible, allowing me to help two outstanding causes that are very close to my family's hearts.”
Roger Blyth, Chairman of Ospreys Rugby Club added:
"Alun Wyn is someone who wears his heart on his sleeve and everybody knows how much the Ospreys, his home region, means to him. Having received the request from the OSC to honour his commitment and dedication to the cause, we had absolutely no hesitation and wish him a successful year.”
Jones in total has one hundred and nineteen test caps to his name, one hundred and ten with Wales and nine with The British and Irish Lions. He also became one of only seven players ever to beat The All Blacks, South Africa and Australia with The Lions.

The prem games this season have mainly been great to watch , with the exception of Sale. So boring and predictable.
Let's have more of Bristol, Bath , Quins etc style of play.
Rugby needs expansive play to put more bums on seats . Not the dirge of rolling forward mauls constantly trying to bully their way over the line.
It has its place yes to draw the defence but the fans want to see more running rugby . Not win at any cost and sod the entertainment .
So Borthwick should drop Marcus Smith? He's the odd one out, forcing the rest of the English backline into a gameplay they don't know. Replacing him with Fin or Ford makes everyone more likely to succeed.
