Andy Goode explains why he thinks Cipriani's pass was even better than Finn Russell's in the Six Nations
On The Rugby Pod this week, Andy Goode went into detail as to why he believed that Danny Cipriani's pass against Northampton was technically more impressive than Finn Russell's against England.
Cipriani produced a virtuoso display on his Gloucester debut to help his new team record a 27-16 Premiership win over Northampton Saints.
The fly-off was fined after pleading guilty to charges of common assault and resisting arrest for an incident that occurred at a Jersey nightclub last month.
Cipriani was selected for Gloucester’s first Premiership game of the season on Saturday and delivered an exquisite pass over two Northampton players to Charlie Sharples, who crossed for one of his team’s two tries.
It has been likened to Finn Russell's famous Six Nations pass against England in the Calcutta Cup, but Goodey thinks it was even better.

Go to commentsThanks Sam. Interesting read. Harder or easier for Parling to come into a completely new setup where performance was abysmal last time out? I’d suggest easier to be better but, as you suggest, will be a lot to do with how much latitude he’s granted. Hopefully all he needs. With hybrids like Holloway, Hannigan, Swinton and Leota as options at 6 we have the basics for a strong lineout. BPA returning means we have good options at 2 also with Faessler, Porecki and Uelese, although Jordan is a scrumming beast rather than a dart thrower. I’m typically a pessimist or realist but that’s never applied to the Wallabies
