Argentina chase history in Vancouver after making another SVNS final

Argentina are through to their fourth Cup final from as many SVNS Series events this season after a relentless 35-19 demolition of the United States in Sunday’s semi-final.
It was all one-way traffic from minute one with Joaquin Pellandini opening the scoring, and a Matias Osadczuk double saw the SVNS Series leaders race out to a big half-time lead.
Los Pumas Sevens didn’t take their foot off the gas during the second term, either, with tries to Tobias Wade and Agustin Fraga completing Argentina’s rout of the Eagles Sevens.
Argentina, who won the previous legs at BC Place Stadium in 2022 and 2023, are chasing history as they look to become the first men's team to win the Vancouver event three times in a row.
“We are very happy. Tough game, tough tournament but we are happy to be back in the final again,” Argentina’s Tobias Wade told RugbyPass.
“It’s an amazing group… we are all friends and that’s the main thing. We fight for each other so that’s the main thing.
“When we fight because of the other guy that’s the main issue and we can (bring out) the best in ourselves.”
Argentina, who claimed Cup final glory in both Cape Town and Perth, will face a talented New Zealand outfit in the Vancouver decider in the final game on Sunday.
The All Blacks Sevens got the better of both Fiji and Antoine Dupont’s France in the knockout rounds to book their place in their first Cup final of the season.
Tries to Cody Vai and Scott Curry, as well as a double to 2023 World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year nominee Akuila Rokolisoa, propelled the Kiwis into the big dance by 28-26.
“We know that both teams are really tough but we try to put the focus on ourselves, on our team to try to fix our mistakes and try to correct some things,” he said before the other semi-final.
“We put the focus on us. We are going to analyse something from each country but the main thing is among us.”

Willis is incredible and probably the best of the bunch but in Underhill and Earl we have two excellent alternatives.
Willis is solid in the lineout but I don't think Borthwick would pick a backrow without a 6'5" blindside.

The rest of us aren’t too far away (some closer than others)
But in reality if we include England Argentina and now Aus rugby looks greatly competitive
Bongis knock on and Lomaxes double bank
These things happen
The fact is the ABs overall have evolved with new players and others like Aumua Vaai and Williams who have progressed immensely
But by and large although it has improved overall our second halves are a massive work in progress
So a B- is about right provided there is no loss to Italy
A loss drops it to C- !!
Remember we could have lost all three games to England but were just slightly better that’s all
