Austin Gilgronis disqualified from MLR playoffs
Major League Rugby (MLR) has announced that the Austin Gilgronis have been disqualified from the end-of-season playoffs after violating competition rules.
How they have violated the rules has not yet been made clear.
In a statement, the competition organisers said: "Due to a violation of league rules, the Austin Gilgronis have been disqualified from 2022 postseason play. Championship Series fixtures will be announced as they are determined."
The Gilgronis appeared to have secured a home semi-final at the weekend after defeating the San Diego Legion 44-28, but it all now appears in vain.
The club are yet to make an official comment on the decision.
The MLR's salary cap in 2020 was set at $500,000. Their roster includes the likes of US Eagles Bryce Campbell and Marcel Brache, as well as former All Blacks second row Isaac Ross.

Amazing. The losing team’s ratings are higher than the winning team’s. Mallia definitely didn’t deserve a y. What game were you watching? Should have got a w or an x. ADP hardly featured in that second half. At one point I wondered when he’d been subbed. Seems to me as if he gets an automatic 9 just for getting onto the team sheet.
