Bath go again with GJ van Velze
Bath have confirmed that GJ van Velze has rejoined the team for the upcoming 2023/24 season after impressing last season.
As a versatile forward who joined Bath from Tel Aviv last year, made a significant mark for the Gallagher Premiership side, earning praise from coaches, players, and fans alike.
During the later part of the 2022/23 season, the South African player played a pivotal role in Bath Rugby's line-out, consistently delivering strong 80-minute displays. The back-five forward boasts an impressive record of over 150 Premiership appearances across three teams.
The 35-year-old veteran has enjoyed stints at the Bulls, Northampton Saints and Worcester Warriors, who folded last season.
Head of Rugby, Johann van Graan, said: “GJ really impressed us last season and it’s great to be able to welcome him back for a second year.
“The experience he brings to the group is something you can’t teach.
“His calmness, both on and off the field, is just one of the attributes GJ brings to this side and I’m pleased we’re able to have both his playing ability and his vast experience again this season.”
Having committed to another season, the 6'5, 112kg utility forward will be eligible for selection when the new season kicks off in September.
