Bath give double coach update as club great exits ahead of next season
Bath have announced that kicking coach Jon Callard has left the club after two years in the role.
The former Bath and England fullback is a club great, and made over 200 appearances for the West Country outfit between 1989 and 1999, winning the Heineken Cup in 1998.
While Callard has left the Rec, scrum coach Stevie Scott has signed a contract extension to keep him with the club for another season.
The former Scotland hooker joined Bath at the beginning of the recent campaign, bringing his experience of the Gallagher Premiership from his time coaching Sale Sharks.
Scott enjoyed a debut season coaching the club as Bath reached the Premiership final, where they narrowly lost to Northampton Saints at Twickenham.
“Stevie has done an excellent job in his first season as scrum coach, improving our scrum and our players. I am excited about the future of our scrum,” Bath head of rugby Johann van Graan said when looking at his coaching staff.
“JC has been an incredible club man for Bath both as a player and a coach. It was great to have him as part of our journey and we wish him the very best.”
Callard said: “I am very proud that I had 20 more months at the club that I never thought I would have, and to have played a very small part in its evolution.
"It’s with a heavy heart that I leave Bath because of what we had done and where we had come from to where they are today, is truly fabulous. I have been fortunate to be part of this fantastic club. It is not just a club; it teaches you the value of pride, the value of worth and the importance of your value to the community.
"You are living the dreams and aspirations of thousands and thousands of people. I have been truly blessed. Thank you, Bath!”
Scott said: "I've really enjoyed my first season at Bath and I'm delighted to extend my contract. It was an easy decision for me. Bath is a great club with good people – both players and staff led excellently by Johann - and we have fantastic fans, The Rec is a special place!
"I’m looking forward to seeing what we can deliver next season."

Who would you have played at 10 with Richie Mo'unga gone and Fergus Burke not available till late in the season ? Scott Barrett hardly played, Sam Whitelock was overseas. There were injuries amongst the replacements. The fairy story that Robertson would have won in this situation is a exactly that a fairy story. We went within a whisker of getting in the play offs late in the season, because we had Fergus Burke, Blackadder others back. Codie Taylor made a big impact when he came back from his sabbatical. Hopefully he will be the captain next year, Codie has had a great season since returning to the Crusaders and for the All Blacks.
