Bath submit plans for 'world-class facility'
Bath have submitted plans to redevelop their Recreation Ground home and increase capacity to 18,000.
The Rec’s current capacity is 14,500 and the Gallagher Premiership club say the new stadium will deliver an “exceptional, fit-for-purpose and modern home” on the city centre site that has been Bath’s home since 1894.
Bath chief executive Tarquin McDonald said: “We are absolutely delighted to have submitted our proposals.
“This is the culmination of many years of collaboration, listening and refining, which we now believe delivers the world-class facility that Bath Rugby and the wider city deserves.
“We are excited to share our vision with all and would ask people to review the proposals via the B&NES planning portal and ultimately support them.”
The plans also include the regeneration of the riverside in the heart of Bath and a new hybrid pitch to increase community use, as well as various sustainability measures to support a target of net zero operational carbon.
Bath and North East Somerset Council’s planning committee will consider the club’s application following a statutory planning process.
The public will be able to view the plans on the council website from Friday.

Let’s make them both Capt. I think we'd get the best of both of them and it would help alleviate some of the pressures of the role. They'd have to confer over on field decisions which should lead to “ learnings “ for both. They are our two best consistent performers.

The springboks are going to grow their game an awful lot over the next cycle and it’s not just the 19 disgustingly arrogant Irish players who refused to shake Ebens hand and said “see you in the final if you can cheat your way past France” who will find that out first hand.
