Also, as you know, the URC is only one piece of the puzzle when it comes to the Boks. Our talent pool is so scattered across leagues around the world that it’s difficult to judge what future success may look like by looking at the URC.

I think one thing people underestimate is just how much untapped potential there still is in South Africa now that rugby is properly delving into all communities in the country. I think the likes of Ntokozo Makhaza and JC Mars are just the tip of the iceberg. The success of the Boks will no doubt inspire a lot more youngsters in SA to take up rugby and, while the talent of course has to be nurtured, SA has more to work with than any other country.

I will never stop thanking the RFU for releasing Lancaster and Farrell to the rest of the rugby world. The utter fools!

Main problem is that you are dealing with three diff currencies, Rand, GBP and Euro. The URC financial situation also looks a lot more stable than the Prem, so maybe they don’t need it?
