Bennett among Edinburgh trio to extend contracts
Edinburgh have extended the contracts of three players including Scotland centre Mark Bennett.
Another Scotland international, Lewis Carmichael, has signed up again along with back-row forward Luke Crosbie.
Former Glasgow player Bennett has rediscovered his form this season after an injury-hit first two years in the Scottish capital, scoring five tries in 10 appearances.
The 26-year-old said: “The club is going in the right direction and it’s something that I’ve really bought into during my spell at Edinburgh.
“I’ve enjoyed my time here in the city and it’s been brilliant being able to find my feet in the back line this season. I’m looking forward to pulling on the jersey and representing this club in the years to come.”
Former Melrose lock Carmichael, 24, made his 40th appearance for Edinburgh against Glasgow last weekend, playing seven games this season after missing the whole of last season with a knee injury.
Former Livingston player Crosbie, 22, has scored one try in seven appearances this season after breaking into the first team.
Head coach Richard Cockerill said: “Mark is a proven international who has performed really well to start this season. He’s quick and decisive and looks to be back to his best.
“We’re really happy that he’s re-signed with the club and he’ll be an important player for us in the seasons to come.
“Lewis had a tough time with injuries last year but he has come back stronger. We’ve been really happy with his development so far this season.
“Luke is part of a core of young Scottish players who are integral to this club and he’ll be a very important player for us in the years to come.”
The club did not disclose the lengths of the new deals.
