Biarritz sign Tomane, confirm Cronin for Leicester among 19 exits

Relegated Biarritz have confirmed the signing of former Wallabies midfielder Joe Tomane just a day after the club named the 19 players who are leaving them following their Top 14 demotion, a leavers list that includes ex-England international Steffan Armitage along with former Irish prop James Cronin and ex-All Blacks midfielder Francis Saili.
The 32-year-old Tomane has just finished up in the Japan Top League where he played two seasons for Black Rams Tokyo after joining them following two seasons in Ireland with Leinster. He is used to the lifestyle in France having previously played at Montpellier, the club he joined in 2016 with his 17-cap Wallabies Test career behind him after finishing at the 2015 World Cup in England.
Biarritz president Jean-Baptiste Aldige announced the signing of Tomane on his Twitter account, tweeting: “Welcome, Joe.” Tomane will lead the Biarritz charge in Pro D2 in the absence of Saili, the former All-Blacks midfielder who is poised to remain in the Top 14 by joining Bordeaux for the 2022/23 campaign. He spent two years at Biarritz following a three-year spell at Harlequins and two years before that at Munster.
Mention of the Irish side, their former loosehead Cronin is also exiting Biarritz. He was a surprise departure from Limerick last summer but his stay in France has lasted just a year as he will now take up an offer at Leicester, the Gallagher Premiership table-toppers who will lose Ellis Genge to Bristol at the end of the season.
Ex-England back row Armitage, whose penalty shootout kick earned Biarritz their promotion playoff win over rivals Bayonne a year ago, is also on the move, opting to link up with Nice, a club he knows from his childhood years in France before his family returned to England.
Tomane is expected to link up with his former Wallabies teammate Tevita Kuridrani, whose current whereabouts is seemingly unknown after he skipped the final match of the Biarritz season, last Sunday night’s hammering at defending Top 14 champions Toulouse.

Fundamentally disagree that we should be starting Sam Cane as 7 this year. If Ardie is best 7 play him there now. If Lakai is the future, play him there now. Let him get 30 caps prior to the world cup or you in the media will flog him for not being prepared. If Sam Cane is so good at mentoring and preparing players, well surely that is the coaches job? God knows there are enough of them, surely they have this in their job description? If not then hire Sam Cane as a coach and pick the best player.
Go to commentsTrust, I once believed, formed the essential foundation of any partnership, particularly in business ventures and financial transactions. My naiveté, however, led me to trust too readily. I encountered an individual presenting herself as a crypto investment guru and strategist. We bonded over shared interests, including our lifestyles and a mutual appreciation for arts and antiques. I found myself believing every word she spoke regarding his purported success in crypto and how crypto would soon take over the world. I was intrigued, after all, a couple of thousand dollars won't break a spine. Initially, the experience seemed promising, but it soon devolved into a chaotic situation. I was repeatedly pressured to provide increasingly substantial sums of money as my supposed profits grew, and I sought to withdraw my funds. Within a mere three months, I had transferred $390,000 in Bitcoin from my wallet across five separate transactions. Subsequently, my wallet was compromised and faced imminent threat. It was at this critical juncture that I sought assistance from Meta Tech Recovery Pro. I presented my case to them, and after a thorough analysis, they revealed that I had been communicating with a single individual throughout the entire ordeal. Meta Tech Recovery Pro swiftly secured my wallet and, through their expertise, successfully recovered my Bitcoin from the scammer. In conclusion, I strongly advise exercising extreme caution when placing your trust in individuals you encounter online. I am eternally grateful to Meta Tech Recovery Pro for their invaluable assistance. They can be reached via:
