Former Bath and Crusaders head coach Todd Blackadder has been linked to the vacant Glasgow Warriors head coach role following the sacking of Danny Wilson.

The Times Scotland report that the 50-year-old former All Black forward is the favourite to take the Scottish side forward after they humiliatingly hammered by Leinster in the URC quarter-final.

The 76 - 14 thrashing handed out at the RDS ultimately cost Wilson his job, with Glasgow moving rapidly to announce he would leaving the role with "immediate effect" last week, with Warriors managing director Al Kellock saying the club “needed to act”.

The decision to sack Wilson was taken by the club and Scottish Rugby following a meeting with the former Wasps coach on June 6th. The Welshman had replaced Dave Rennie in the summer of 2020, with Rennie leaving to take up the head coach role with the Wallabies.

An experienced head coach, Blackadder will join following three years in Japan.

In 2018, having been granted a release by Bath in 2018, left his post the Gallagher Premiership to take over at Toshiba Brave Lupus.

Many moons ago Blackadder spent a season as an assistant coach at Scottish rivals Edinburgh.

Blackadder won 12 caps for New Zealand between 1995 and 2000 and appeared 71 times for the Crusaders.
