All Blacks lose two ahead of Wales clash

Rieko Ioane and Luke Romano have been ruled out of New Zealand’s final Test of the year against Wales on Saturday.

Wing Ioane – nominated for World Rugby’s Player of the Year award last week – played the full 80 minutes as the All Blacks edged Scotland 22-17 at Murrayfield on Saturday.

However, a shoulder issue will see him miss next weekend’s trip to Cardiff, while lock Romano, who was replaced early in the second half in Edinburgh, has a foot injury.

Wales, meanwhile, could be without influential back Liam Williams, who was withdrawn just short of the hour mark in a 13-6 victory over Georgia.

Williams was the only man to start against Georgia who had also been part of the XV against Australia a week earlier.

“I’m not sure about Liam Williams,” coach Warren Gatland said of Williams. “He is hobbling around.”

Yes people don’t understand how different the roles are between 10 and 15. No doubt a lot of it was down to chance, but he’s also not the young fella that could light it up from anywhere, and when he’s given those sorts of opportunities I’m not surprised it was similar to Bledisloe I last year.


I’ve had to repeatedly nag the drum that he can’t play 15 in test rugby, looks like I mean have missed the beat at Super Rugby though lol

Does he have to name a tour captain? Itoje and Doris will both captain during the warmup games. Jamie George will too if he’s in the squad, and Jac Morgan and Finn Russell might get a look in too if they’re lucky. Farrell could then choose a captain for the tests after he’s taken some time to see what works.

Doris didn’t play that well though, while other number 8’s really shone. Hell Conan made more impact during his minutes than Doris. It doesn’t matter how well Ireland did. Example - Sale lost to Toulouse last weekend, but Ben Curry was phenomenal despite losing.


Don’t judge a player on 5 games is my opinion, class is permanent. Doris does need some good games between now and the end of the season though.
