Brown commits future to Warriors
Scotland hooker Fraser Brown has signed a new two-year contract with Glasgow Warriors.
Brown follows Jonny Gray, Niko Matawalu, Ali Price and Nick Grigg in agreeing fresh terms with the Pro14 side, putting pen to paper on a deal until May 2020.
The 28-year-old has played 69 games for the Warriors since his move from Edinburgh in 2013, winning the Pro12 title two years ago.
Brown, capped 29 times by his country, said on eve of the 1872 Cup match against his former club Edinburgh: "My desire and my family's desire was always to stay here. This club means a great deal to me as they gave me the opportunity to come back into the professional environment after I left Edinburgh.
"Since I've joined I've gone from strength to strength, I've gone from being a squad player to a member of the 23.
"Being at Glasgow Warriors has allowed me to push on with my national ambitions as well as helping me to develop, not just as a player but as a person as well. We've got a great group of guys here and it's a brilliant squad.
"Having the knowledge that the coaches at Scotstoun and the coaches at Murrayfield are going to look after us the best they can in terms of the rest protocols and the day-to-day management was definitely big part of why I wanted to stay at Glasgow.
"It's exciting to sign my new contract ahead of the 1872 Cup doubleheader with Edinburgh Rugby. There is always something a little bit special and a little bit extra about these derby games."

Yet Ethan Blackadder was one of our best against the World Champion Springbok. When he came back to the Crusaders later in the season , he made a huge difference, ( a long with others like Codie Taylor), we nearly made the Play Off's. Ethan has plenty of rugby left in him. His family , Dad Todd Blackadder must be very [proud of him. Todd Blackadder was a 3 time champion captain of the Crusaders, '98, '99 and 2000.An icon in this area. Also twice captain of Canterbury , '97 and 2001 when we won the NPC and Ranfurly Shield winning captain in 2000.
Go to commentsIt's the same criticism of Dmac and Mo'unga as well. Sadly the way the game has been heading recently it's the only way to break down a defence, and a player of Lawrences nature would have a very limited chance at doing that because he's too one dimensional.
Noah Lolesio is your sort of player and that worked OK, but only because his team is far more creative than Englands for example. The highly organized Irish attack was also another that didn't require much from the 10, but that is now changing with Prendergast who is in that league mold like the most new age 10's.
So it is in fact your two which would require even more change to make the most of than Marcus Smith.
