Brumbies make one change and will don Indigenous strip for Reds derby
Brumbies coach Dan McKellar has made just the one change to the starting XV for the top of the table clash against the Queensland Reds at GIO Stadium on Saturday night.
The round five fixture sees both sides come in undefeated in Super Rugby AU and will also be the first time the Brumbies wear an Indigenous playing jersey.
Tall timber Darcy Swain returns to the side after missing the 24-nil win over the Western Force and will partner Nick Frost for the first time in the starting second row.
Wallabies stars Scott Sio, Folau Fainga'a and skipper Allan Alaalatoa will again set the standard in the set piece from the front row.
Barnstorming youngster Rob Valetini, Will Miller and Pete Samu combine for the second straight week as loose forwards with Joe Powell and Bayley Kuenzle lining up the halves.
Last weekend's man of the match Irae Simone will look to continue his fine form at inside centre. Test star Tevita Kuridrani to play outside him in the 13 jersey, his 129th match for the club.
Tom Wright will again get a chance to impress on the wing, with the damaging Solomone Kata and ever reliable Tom Banks making up the back three.
After a solid 25 minutes last week Connal McInerney is again the replacement hooker, with James Slipper and Tom Ross the other front row finishers.
Vice-captain Tom Cusack returns to the side and will be helped out by Lachlan McCaffrey to cover the loose forwards.
Speedster Issak Fines will be the number nine replacement, with Mack Hansen and proud Indigenous man Andy Muirhead finalising the matchday 23.
Plus500 Brumbies coach Dan McKellar said: "We're really excited to get another opportunity to play in front of our supporters this week in Canberra and take on the Reds who have had a good start to the new competition."
"We've had a solid week of preparation and the whole team is up for what's going to be a big challenge on Saturday night.
"It's also going to be a special occasion to be able to wear our first ever Indigenous jersey and I know the players are really proud to be a part of that."

My name is Amelia Jonathan from the United States, Using this opportunity to thank Dr. Ughulu is a grateful thing to me, for over years I have been sick with Hepatitis B disease, I have done a lot of things to get cured of my diseases and nothing has worked out. I have taken different types of medication for it , but it still doesn’t work for me. I still keep going for a check up so that the doctor will tell me my disease has be gone, because i’m taking my medicine with no result nothing has been cured, I have spent a lot of money just to get cure of Hepatitis B. until my old time friend came to my place and saw what am going through, and then direct me to contact Dr. Ughulu who is a very powerful man, which I did explain my problem to Dr. Ughulu and send me a herbal remedy bottle and explain to me how I should drink it. So I started to drink the herbal tea in one week that I drink the herbal tea. I went for a check up to check if I’m cured from Hepatitis B disease, then the nurse told me nothing is wrong with me anymore and said I’m fine. I am the happiest person right now. Go to commentsI’d take the Sharks, Stormers, Bulls, and Lions back in a second. Super Rugby Pacific is improving and the conference system sucked ass and never should have been implemented but if you think the quality of rugby is better without the South African franchises, you are kidding yourself.
And there is nothing authentic about Moana Pacifika, it is a sixth NZ franchise. Almost all of the players are NZ citizens, born and raised in NZ, were developed by NZ secondary schools and play in the NPC. The players just happen to be of Pacific heritage (just as there are a very large number of Pacific heritage players on the original five NZ franchises). Moana Pacifika is a marketing ploy for Auckland’s second SRP franchise.
Fiji Drua are legitimately a Pacific island team. Most players are born in Fiji, the players live and train in Fiji, and they play their home matches in Fiji.
