Camille Chat secures future after whirwind 2025 that saw shock Racing exit

Former France hooker Camille Chat has signed a four year contract extension with Lyon, the club he joined at the beginning of the year following a shock departure from Racing 92.
The 29-year-old departed Racing with immediate effect in January for disciplinary reasons following a decade in Paris and was soon brought in from the cold by their Top 14 rivals Lyon until the end of the season.
He has now committed himself to Lyon for the next four seasons, for whom he has already made four appearances, scoring two tries.
Lyon have managed to keep hold of the 33-cap France international despite interest from Bayonne elsewhere in the league.
"I am extremely grateful to LOU Rugby for giving me the opportunity to continue this adventure with them," the 101kg front-row said. "Since my arrival, I have always been impressed by the spirit of camaraderie and professionalism that reigns here. I feel at home in Lyon, and it is with immense motivation that I commit to giving my all for this team and for our supporters."
Following his exit from Racing, Chat took to social media to share this message: “After so many years in this club the time has come for me to say goodbye.
“Those 12 years at Racing 92 have been much more than a career. They were an incomparable human and sporting adventure. Every moment, every match, every training session, every victory or defeat has shaped not only my journey but also a part of my life.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has been part of this beautiful story. To the teammates with whom I have shared moments of intensity, comradeship and solidarity, to the entire staff for guiding me and pushing me to always surpass me, and of course to the supporters who have always been there, behind us, to cheer us on with passion. Your support has been an indispensable driving force.
“I will never forget what this club gave me: strong emotions, sincere friendships and unforgettable memories. Today a new chapter in my life begins, I will forever hold Racing 92 in my heart. Thank you all for making these years an amazing journey. With all my gratitude and respect. See you very soon.”

Agree, the trio needs to work. Skills sets where one of the trio is weaker can be made up from the other two, or even the other forwards (but that’s getting on a slippery slope - tight forwards need to be dominant in their core roles first).
The All Blacks will probably settle on two all rounders, at 7 and 8; and a bruiser who can jump at 6. We’ll see. You never know what Robertson has planned. I think last year he was a bit conservative and this year (which might be his last, if results are the same as last year) could be his last chance to stamp his mark on the team.
