Change confirmed to the match officials for Italy vs England
Injury has forced an alteration in the match officials originally appointed to take charge of the opening round Guinness Six Nations fixture between Steve Borthwick’s England and Italy in Rome.
Pierre Brousset of France had been named as an assistant referee for the February 3 Stadio Olimpico fixture.
However, having last weekend taken charge of the Connacht versus Bristol Investec Champions Cup match, a calf injury has now sidelined the French official from his upcoming role as referee Paul Williams’ assistant.
A statement read: “World Rugby have confirmed a change to the match official appointments for the Guinness men’s Six Nations match between Italy and England on Saturday, February 3.
“Pierre Brousset (France) has sustained a calf injury and will be replaced by Nika Amashukeli (Georgia) as assistant referee.
“The updated appointments for this match are – referee: Paul Williams (NZR), assistant referee one: Nic Berry (RA), assistant referee 2: Nika Amashukeli (GRU), TMO: Brett Cronan (RA).”

While we were living in Belgium, French rugby was very easy to watch on tv and YouTube. Given the ghastly weather, riding indoors on a trainer and watching French rugby was a very passable experience. I became quite a fan.
Interestingly, last week in Buenos Aires I shared a table with a couple from Toulouse, who were at the Toulon game themselves, and were curious how much I knew about French club rugby. I explained the Brussels weather. They smiled and understood.
Now back in CA, biking again.

It could be that Australia may not have top Coaches coaching at the elite level around the world? Only the ARU can answer that question. My prediction is Australia will beat Scotland and Ireland. Schmidt has now got the right players and tools to develop Australia into a formidable XV.
