Charlie Ewels gunning for titles after signing new Bath deal
Bath lock Charlie Ewels has set his sights on winning silverware with Bath after signing a new contract at the Rec until 2027.
The 30-cap England international is the latest player to sign on with the West Country outfit in what has been a productive month for them so far.
Bath have experienced a resurgence this season, sitting in third place in the Gallagher Premiership and into the round of 16 in the Investec Champions Cup, and Ewels said the "ultimate goal is to win things".
The 28-year-old's attention will be firmly set on winning things for England for the time being though, as he was drafted into Steve Borthwick's Guinness Six Nations squad as cover for Saracens' Nick Isiekwe for England's training camp in Girona ahead of the Championship.
After signing his new deal, Ewels said: "I am delighted to be staying. It’s a really exciting time at the club and a really exciting place to be at the moment."
"It’s somewhere I’ve spent my whole career and it’s the right place for me to be for the next three years. The ultimate goal is to win things, it’s the easiest thing to say but the hardest thing to do. There’s a squad that’s been together for a period of time now and shared some pretty tough experiences together, so I want that group of players to share winning together.”
Bath head of rugby Johann van Graan added: “Charlie is one of the most professional players that I have coached in my professional career. His attention to detail, his leadership qualities, his communication skills, plus most importantly he turns up week on week.
"Charlie had a big injury a year ago, but what he has done this season has been magnificent, a true international lock and I am very glad that he’s staying at Bath Rugby.”

Added bonus that Furlong is out. He is quite a bit shorter that Williams which looked like an issue for him last week against Stuart. Bealham is good but definitely less of a challenge than Furlong.

Mocking beaten players and supporters after the final is just arrogance. Not just Ioane.
Foster and Cane later condoned his behaviour. Not sure what Ireland have done to deserve this level of disrespect from NZ but the only conclusion was that our capital sin was winning the series. Some of the fire in Irish bellies on Friday will be from our utter dislike of arrogance.
