Clayton Blommetjies’s late miss costly as Bulls edge out Stormers

Clayton Blommetjies missed a late conversion as Stormers saw their six-match winning run at DHL Stadium come to an end in a 33-32 defeat to Bulls in their rearranged United Rugby Championship Round 1 fixture.

Stormers outscored their South African rivals five to four in tries with Frans Malherbe, Salmaan Moerat, Evan Roos, Warrick Gelant and Ben-Jason Dixon crossing for the home side and Jurie Matthee kicking two conversions and one penalty.

Cobus Wiese, Jan-Hendrik Wessels, Harold Vorster and Ruan Vermaak went over for Bulls, with David Kriel landing two conversions and three penalties, as they triumphed in Cape Town for the first time since 2021.

To caption the Stormers' season thus far: The campaign of unforced errors.


What causes unforced errors? Kak coaching, that's what.


And, while the de facto 12 month season contributes to an increase in injuries, proper strength and conditioning training should somewhat alleviate that.


Now that the admin and finance problems appear to be sorted out (kind of), the coaching is f'ed up. What a 🤡 show.
