Coronavirus claims life of former Richmond player

The coronavirus has claimed the life of a former Richmond Rugby player and past president - David Buchanan - the club have confirmed.
The club statement reads: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the death yesterday, 2 April 2020 of David Buchanan, Past President, distinguished player, formidable opponent and loyal friend.
"Struck down by Coronavirus which even his legendary indomitable spirit could not withstand.
"Our sympathies and thoughts are with his beloved wife, Topsy and his much adored Henry, Simon and Polly.
"May he rest in peace while he surely takes his rightful place amid the pantheon of Richmond's Rugby men."
Buchanan was Richmond's president before their professional team was excluded from the Premiership in 1999.
The domestic season in England below the Gallagher Premiership has been ended by the Rugby Football Union, with final league placings in the Greene King IPA Championship settled by a ‘best playing record formula’.
Richmond have been promoted to the Greene King IPA Championship, despite the cancellation of the rest of the National League 1 season.
