Courtney Lawes to miss rest of Six Nations
England's Six Nations campaign took a major injury blow this evening with news that Courtney Lawes will miss the rest of the tournament.
The towering lock was injured during England defeat to Wales in Cardiff yesterday and will now return to his club.
In a statement the RFU said: "Courtney Lawes (Northampton Saints) will miss the rest of the Guinness Six Nations due to a calf strain sustained yesterday in Cardiff.
"Following the results of his scan this afternoon, Lawes is expected to be out for a minimum of four weeks. He will return to his club for rehabilitation."
Having beaten Ireland and France in their opening two fixtures, England fell to a 21-13 defeat in Cardiff as Wales maintained their own chances of completing the Slam.
Cory Hill and Josh Adams crossed in the second half to help complete a record 12th consecutive Test victory for Warren Gatland’s side, who trailed 10-3 at the break with Tom Curry scoring for England.
And England coach Jones says his side fell short in the finer points of the game.
“It was one of those nip and tuck games and it’s a game of small margins,” he told BBC Sport.
“We let ourselves down in a couple of areas. They beat us in the air, the penalty count was strongly against us and that gives the opposition field position and the chance to score and that’s what happened.
“It’s a tough game and I don’t know whether we lost our heads, but they put us under a lot of pressure. You’re always going to get some tough calls away from home and that happened.”
Captain Owen Farrell admitted he did not have his best game in an England jersey, but Jones says the team collectively did not hit top gear.
“I just think a few of our players were a bit off and that happens sometimes,” he added.
“That’s the great thing about rugby, you never know what will happen. Full credit to Wales they deserved the win and played very well.”

we need a damaging 12 that takes 2 men to tackle that will take pressure off the 10 while also creating space for the 10 and 13 . Leicester is the only guy that fits the mould . The next thing is " will he be able to develop a good offload " ? .
for 13 Joey manu has more x factor then reiko and jordie put togeather . he's got one season in japan before he looks to come home . he's a dark horse but his skill set is something the All Blacks don't have . if he comes home and lights up the npc in a game or 2 , id love to see him fast tracked and come off the bench for the All Blacks and thrown into the deep end to see if he can swim . Just to see if he's worth the time and effort to develop further . We all saw how good sualii did for the wallabies and joey manu is just as good as sualii . He's safe under the high ball , a solid defender , has a master offload , and he's fast and strong .
he fits the mould for razor's offload tactics .
Plus reiko and jordie have had the 12 & 13 for how long and I haven't seen anything special from either of them .
