Crusaders lose Crotty for Highlanders clash

It isn’t a penalty when a player is ahead of (offside) during a kickoff or restart. Thats the only time I know of that being offside isn’t a penalty.

Any other time a player is ahead of a kick (in play) it’s offside.

Which kind of begs the question, why not make it a penalty anytime a player is ahead of their kicker? Why’s is it only a scrum offence at kickoff?

The penalty in this case is for deliberately committing an offence. it doesn’t have anything to do with the kick and the chaser - or the player being offside - it’s about Libbok and Esterhuisen deliberately playing for the scrum.

In the event that a player were to deliberately knock the ball on to get a scrum - that would be a penalty too (for example) if deemed to be deliberate.

Another penalty might be an Italian prop deliberately looking to get a headbutt by acting like a little p*** laaitie.

Nick White acting like his throat had been slashed when Faf de Klerk brushed his whiskers with his pinky.

Dan Carter acting like he’s been hit by a car after a legal tackle by Bismarck du Plessis.

Actually, it did look like he got hit by a car…

A 5th ,cheated abit by only doing a 15 snd there are heaps of dudes I left out for various reasons and picked some on a whim but I reckon the depth looks pretty good obviously getting a bit thin the further u go but there a heaps of experienced guys left out and some real young dudes who look the goods but ain’t played much Super yet

It’s basically the same application of what weve just seen of the knock on to deliberate knock on. The ref sorted the issue out on the next scrum anyway.

Are you trying to say the game shouldn’t have scrums because SA are too powerful at them?

What needs to be fixed is penalties being rewarded for scrum infringements when they shouldn’t be. If SA can win a oppositions put in scrum good on them if they intentionally kick it out. If you’re looking for a problem its that a weak scrum is penalized twice (well five times if you count the effect of a penalty vs a free kick.
