Dai Young suspended by Cardiff Rugby
Dai Young has been suspended as the director of rugby of Cardiff Rugby - the BBC is reporting.
It is alleged that the club has suspended him following a number of complaints from employees. Although the specific nature of the complaints has not been disclosed, it has been reported that a number of individuals raised concerns about Young's conduct.
The decision to suspend Young was made at a board meeting on Thursday, with the club's players being informed of the move on Friday. Young was not present at the club's training ground on Friday and will also not be in attendance for the team's final game of the season against the Ospreys at the Principality Stadium.
The club are yet to release an official statement but have confirmed that rugby director Dai Young will not attend Saturday’s Judgement Day clash in the Welsh capital. Cardiff, though, will not comment on reports that 55-year-old Young has been suspended. The URC side have simply said that former Wasps boss Young will miss the Ospreys game due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
It is a huge fixture for both United Rugby Championship teams, with Heineken Champions Cup qualification on the line.
Cardiff currently top the Welsh Shield by four points from the Ospreys.
Young has been a key figure at the club, having previously played for Cardiff RFC and then serving as head coach for Cardiff Blues from 2002 to 2011.
During his first stint with the Blues Young oversaw European Challenge Cup and Anglo-Welsh Cup final triumphs.
