Damian Penaud voted Autumn Nations Series player of the season

France winger Damian Penaud has been named the 2022 Autumn Nations Series Player of the Series. The Clermont star beat off New Zealand loose forward Ardie Savea and Italy's fullback, Ange Capuozzo
An international media and broadcasters panels selected a shortlist of players, based on their standout performances this Autumn, before being put to a fan vote to decide the winner and fans have voted for the flying Frenchman.
The panel took into account the performances of every player to feature in the 2022 Series, before agreeing on three names who were judged to have had standout individual performances, as well as playing "a key role in their teams achievements over the course of the series".
Penaud garnered 40 per cent of the votes, to claim the title of Autumn Nations Series, Player of The Series, following his stella performances this November. One such performance included the box office and decisive try against Australia, to secure his side a hard-fought victory in their first clash of the Series. Penaud finished the Series entering the list of Top 10 try scorers for the national side; with 21 tries to his name, in 37 Tests.

I do in that sense yes. I just think when it gets to 'don't stand out, toe the line', team first becomes a poor excuse for anti-individualism. If this 10 feels aggrieved and believes in himself, he should have the right to say it and put his money where his mouth is. That said, you can't fault Galthie's response. Very gallant gallic insouciance. ( I too live in France) :)
Go to commentsHe was Defence coach with Castres when they won the French Championship and they had the best defence in the competition so he does have credibility, he also has coached Oyonnax with limited resources to beat teams in the top 14 with much bigger budgets so the idea that he has no credibility is ignorant and incorrect, whether he will turn out to be a success is something that nobody knows however the RFU didn't just just say to Borthwick pick your friend, he had been on their radar for at least 5 years or more.
