Danny Cipriani's Bath exit confirmed after 'challenging season'
Bath have confirmed that Danny Cipriani will depart the club at the end of the season for "an opportunity overseas."
Cipriani had posted last Friday that he was heading out of English rugby: "My last couple games in England are fast arriving!!! I’ve decided to move on to experience a new country and make great memories with my Family…"
The 34-year-old made his Bath debut against the Sale Sharks on opening day and has 53 points in 15 games so far. Cipriani's appearances have been limited due to injury and illness, but he has made a significant contribution to the development of the club's young players.
“It’s certainly been a challenging season which everyone will learn a huge amount from," said Cipriani. “Unfortunately, I haven’t played as much rugby as I would have liked due to covid and injury, however I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my season at Bath particularly working with a talented group of youngsters. Orlando with a great work ethic, temperament, and vast array of skills. Max has all the ability and talent as well as being a student of the game, a great combination! I’m looking forward to watching them over the years.
“Thank you to the fans for your continual support and your spirited cheers no matter the weather. It’s never overlooked and always humbling. I feel extremely blessed to have had this experience it’s taught me a lot.
“Thank you to the players and the coaching staff for welcoming me. Thank you to everyone at Bath. Thank you to my beautiful wife Victoria; I’m excited for what’s coming and what our future holds.
“I’ve loved playing in the Premiership, it’s what I dreamed of as a child. Thank you for all your support.”
The struggling club said "Danny and his family the best of luck in the future."
Head Coach Neal Hatley said: “Cips has been a fantastic mentor for the younger players at our club and has really helped the likes of Orlando Bailey and Max Ojomoh with their development this season.
“In the games he has featured in, he has shown what a quality player he is ball in hand and how he brings players into the game.
“We wish him, Vic and his family every success for the future.”

The challenge for the All Blacks now that they have 7 of 8 starting forwards locked in and all but one bench forward (only one loose forward and bench loosie to settle on) is to sort out the starting backline as only 9 Roigard, 12 J. Barrett, 11 Clarke and 15 Jordan had good to outstanding seasons in 2024. All the other backs were inconsistent or poor and question marks going into 2025.
