Davies leads Ospreys to Pro12 summit, boosts international hopes
Wales may be enduring a miserable Six Nations, but fly-half Sam Davies had an enjoyable return to club duty on Friday as Ospreys edged to a 13-9 victory over Edinburgh at Myreside and reclaimed top spot in the Pro12 table.
Davies came on as a second-half replacement at Murrayfield last weekend when Wales were beaten 29-13 by Scotland, the visitors' efforts coming in for plenty of criticism.
Yet having been released to play for Ospreys along with several of his international team-mates, Davies turned in a man-of-the-match performance on his return to Scotland's capital - a fine run and offload from the 23-year-old setting up the only try of the match for Josh Matavesi.
Davies converted the score and added two penalties during a performance that is likely to boost his chances of gaining more game-time with Wales.
Ospreys now lead Leinster, who host Scarlets on Saturday, by three points. Edinburgh remain ninth, their only points on Friday coming from the boot of Duncan Weir.
Ulster were unable to claim a bonus point and stay fifth after beating Benetton Treviso 19-7 at a sodden Kingspan Stadium, while Connacht thumped Zebre 33-3.

How about a SH type of Champions Cup? I'm not going to repeat the whole response here, but did write what I think would be good. Not only for NZ, but all of the SH. I would however love to hear your thoughts on such a competition

Collectively, the team often looked muddled and lacked cool-headed, leadership especially in the final quarter of games. This was further compounded by a quality drop-off from the bench.
Calls for Borthwick’s dismissal have grown increasingly louder with each passing game as he has been shown to be tactically and selectively subpar. His position is now in the balance and I don’t believe he’ll be kept on unless England fix their defensive issues and beat at least one of Ireland, France or Scotland in the 6Ns, which on the latest showing looks increasingly unlikely.
Couple of returning players in Chessum and Mitchell coupled with a stronger bench, might give England fans a few reasons to remain optimistic.
