Dragons sign 102kg Stormers centre on immediate deal
The Dragons have signed centre Chris Hollis from the Stormers on a short-term deal.
The 25-year-old has already started training with his new teammates at the Dragons' Ystrad Mynach training base, ahead of their final three matches of the United Rugby Championship season.
The 102kg centre will be reacquainted with his former Stormers teammates sooner than anticipated though, with the Dragons' next fixture being against the Cape Town outfit at Rodney Parade on May 10, before fixtures against the Ospreys and the Scarlets.
The South African spent the last two seasons with the Stormers, having arrived from the Lions in 2022.
The Dragons sit one place from the bottom in the URC table, only one point ahead of Zebre.
Head coach Dai Flanagan said after the signing was announced: “Chris is a player who wants game time and is a big ball carrier and man who can make his mark here.
“I first noticed Chris several years ago when he was playing for the Southern Kings, and I’ve followed him ever since and been a big fan of his.
“Chris can play multiple positions so adds great depth to our squad and is someone who we feel can be a real asset to us.”

While we were living in Belgium, French rugby was very easy to watch on tv and YouTube. Given the ghastly weather, riding indoors on a trainer and watching French rugby was a very passable experience. I became quite a fan.
Interestingly, last week in Buenos Aires I shared a table with a couple from Toulouse, who were at the Toulon game themselves, and were curious how much I knew about French club rugby. I explained the Brussels weather. They smiled and understood.
Now back in CA, biking again.

It could be that Australia may not have top Coaches coaching at the elite level around the world? Only the ARU can answer that question. My prediction is Australia will beat Scotland and Ireland. Schmidt has now got the right players and tools to develop Australia into a formidable XV.
