Eddie Jones abusers to appear in court
Four men have been summoned to appear in court on May 16th over the verbal abuse suffered by England head coach Eddie Jones as he arrived in Manchester on February 25th following a train trip from Edinburgh.
It happened the day after of Scotland's 25-13 win over England in the Six Nations, the countries first Calcutta Cup victory in ten years.
Jones was approached for a photo, before being abused as he went to an awaiting car.
The four have been summoned to appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court. Three are from Edinburgh, a 22-year-old, a 23-year-old and a 25-year-old, while another 25-year-old is from South Queensferry,
They were reported over an alleged the Public Order offence.
Jones had been traveling to Manchester to attend an English Premier League match at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Chelsea.
In the aftermath of the incident, Jones questioned whether he'd take public transport again.
“I try and do the right thing by the fans but if that happens then you’ve got to have a look at your own safety,” said Jones. “I never knock back a request for a selfie unless I’m racing to somewhere. I did a lot.
“For me to travel on public transport, I thought was OK. I’m a human being. I don’t consider myself any different from anyone else. But I’ll make sure I won’t in future. It’s as simple as that. I can’t, because it was shown on Sunday what happens when I do.
“That’s the world we live in. It wasn’t comfortable. It was a bit of both [physical and verbal]. After a loss, no I wouldn’t [catch a train again]. It’s part of the challenge.
“When I came to England, I knew there were going to be challenges. As an Australian coaching England, there were always going to be challenges and that’s just one of them.”
Asked whether he was surprised by the incident, Jones added: “Massively, but that’s the world we live in.
“I don’t want to get into it, guys. I don’t want to make a big deal about it. It’s over and done with.

Italians defended well. Luckily the scrums went well for the ABs.

Someone like TJ would be bitterly disappointed he didn't play on this end of year tour. He is still good enough to come on in that France game and ensure the team get the victory (with regards to how well Ratima had been playing). At the very least this is a 'sorry you didn't get that chance' offering, he's not here to get token farewell games, he will be playing to try and prove that he should have been on the pitch last week.
The other decision to play your best over the future is really personal though so can agree with your reasoning. Just sharing a slightly different perspective. I'll have to check the ratings and see how they went.
