England Rugby issue Jack Nowell update but all is not clear
England Rugby have issued an update on Exeter Chiefs winger Jack Nowell, though it is as yet unclear if he will take any part in the Rugby World Cup.
Nowell injured his ankle in the Gallagher Premiership Final against Saracens, casting doubt on whether not the exciting back three player could make it back in the time for the sport's flagship tournament in Japan.
The statement from England Rugby reads:
"Jack Nowell (Exeter Chiefs) has returned home for a routine surgical review of his ankle.
"The winger will continue his rehabilitation in England while the squad are in Treviso until the end of the week (August 2nd)."
Nowell underwent initial scans on both his knee and ankle in the aftermath of the final, which ended in a 37-34 victory for the Londoners who added the Premiership title to their Heineken Champions Cup crown.
The Cornishman went on holiday with his family before returning to Exeter where he underwent surgery on his ankle in June.
Exeter Chiefs DoR Rob Baxter said of the injury at the time of the operation: "Jack has had an operation on his ankle and at this stage we see no reason why it should jeopardise him being involved with England at the Rugby World Cup nor with us heading into the new season,” said the Sandy Park director of rugby."

He had Hamilton and Biggar embarrassingly for him rolling in laughter trying to claim the AB’s management and players chose where they play tests 😂😂😂 because he says the last time they played SA at Eden Park was like 10-15 yrs ago and thats why they have this record - clearly unaware that it’s only been in the last couple of years SA have had the ‘wood’ on NZ.
