England rugby player arrested on suspicion of rape won't face charges
A former England rugby player who was arrested on suspicion of the rape of a teenage girl will not be charged over the incident.
The Daily Mail report that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) will not be charging the player - who can not be named for legal reasons.
The player was arrested after police were called to the home of a prostitute on January 9 in Manchester.
The man in question is alleged have picked the teenager up outside a nightclub in Manchester before sexually assaulting her at the home of the sex worker who subsequently alerted the police to the situation.
It is understood that said player had driven the teenager - who was celebrating her 18th birthday with friends - by car to the house in the east of the city.
The 41-year-old sex worker - who was arrested under the suspicion of 'administering a substance with intent to stupefy or overpower to allow sexual activity' - will not face any further action from police.
A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester police confirmed to The Daily Mail that both the sex worker and the player in question had been notified they were no longer suspects.
"This follows a number of lines of inquiry being undertaken, and full consultation with the victim," the spokesperson said.
The sex worker alleged that the player had forced her to commit a sex act on him and that he had threatened her life. She had claimed the star - who she had met on two previous occasions - had also taken drugs and watched pornography during the ordeal at her home.
The player has not appeared for his club since the incident and his contract is not expected to be renewed.

Disagree.
The challenge for the All Blacks now that they have 7 of 8 starting forwards locked in and all but one bench forward (only one loose forward and bench loosie to settle on) is to sort out the starting backline as only 9 Roigard, 12 J. Barrett, 11 Clarke and 15 Jordan had good to outstanding seasons in 2024. All the other backs were inconsistent or poor and question marks going into 2025.
