Ex-Scotland U20s standout Hamish Bain returns to France
RC Vannes have this week confirmed the signing of former Scotland U20s second row Hamish Bain.
In addition to securing contract extensions for their captain Francisco Gorrissen and the versatile Sacha Valleau, the Breton club has recently announced the signing of Bain this week.
Hamish Bain, 25, is making a return to France after spending two seasons (2020-2022) with the Glasgow Warriors and another season with the Jersey Reds, where he achieved success in the English Second Division.
Bain's initial experience in France dates back to 2018 when he played for Stade Nice in the Federal 1 league.
"I am very happy to join an ambitious club with such passionate supporters," Bain said. "I look forward to playing in the Blue and White jersey at the Stade de la Rabine and contributing to a very good season."
Bain marked his debut for the Glasgow Warriors during the third round of the 2020/21 Guinness PRO14 season and made his European debut for the club in December of that year when they faced Exeter at Sandy Park.
Before joining Scotstoun, Bain spent two seasons at Stade Nicois, benefiting from the performance partnership between Scottish Rugby and the French team. During his time there, he showcased his dynamic ball-carrying skills and set-piece prowess. In total, he made 37 appearances while playing in the Federale 1.
Bain is a graduate of the SRU's FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy. He also repped Scotland U20s, contributing to their best-ever finish of fifth place at the 2017 World Rugby U20 Championship and earned nine caps in total.

Where this argument falls down, is that many of the Boks ply their trade in Japan, hardly comparable to the English Prem in intensity let alone the Top 14. Yet, the Bok players return to the international fold, hardened and as we saw, ready to play. Its a mindset as much as a lighter weight competition.
