Exeter Chiefs have just released Campagnaro from his contract
Speculation is mounting as news breaks that Michele Campagnaro has been released by Exeter Chiefs.
Exeter Chiefs have agreed to release Campagnaro from his playing contract with the Gallagher Premiership club from October 31.
The Italian international, who joined the club in the summer of 2015 from Benetton Treviso, will then become a free agent.
It is being widely rumoured that he is set to sign for Wasps.
The 25-year-old back, who was part of the match-day 23 when the Chiefs won the Aviva Premiership title in 2017, has made 27 first team appearances during his time at Sandy Park, scoring nine tries in the process.
Injuries and international call-ups have meant that Campagnaro's Chiefs career has at times been stop-start, but when he has featured his talents have been there for all to see. He made 27 first appearances in total and scored nine tries in the process.
Commenting on the announcement, Campagnaro said: "My time in Exeter is coming to an end. It's been a privilege and an honour for me to be part of this team.
"It has been an incredible journey and I have loved every single moment of it. I will never forget the Chiefs family.
"I want to say thank-you to the club and the supporters as you have made my time here so enjoyable and full of good memories. A special thanks to my team-mates for always looking after me.
"I love you guys and I wish you all the best for the future. Now, it's a time for a new challenge, which I am looking forward to.
"Arrivederci e Grazie".

Thanks Nick. Surely they will thump Japan this week and the pressure will be off. Do you want to make a prediction that the defence coach will go before the Six Nations? England seem to want Borthwick there for a long time so surely they will back Bortho and look for a new defence coach?
Go to commentsYes, Carlos, I sensed before hand this would be a very close game, even could see an Arg. win....well, they have beaten all their three SH compatriots this year, then added Italy. And as nick says below, they were winners of the breakdown for a lot of the game, and both sides of the ball too.
Felipe very highly regarded in Ireland, esp. Leinster.
Good luck this weekend !
