Former BlitzBok star Vuyo Zangqa lands Russian role
By Rugby365
Former BlitzBok star Vuyo Zangqa is Russia’s new Sevens head coach. Zangqa will replace Alexander Yanyushkin, who took over the national Sevens team in December 2019.
Zangqa represented the BlitzBoks in 21 tournaments on the Sevens circuit between 2007 and 2009.
A car accident in 2009 brought an unfortunate end to his playing career.
However, he made a successful transition into coaching – assisting Paul Treu with the BlitzBoks, before also working with Treu at the Kenyan Sevens team.
Zangqa was also an assistant coach with the Southern Kings before he went on to become Germany’s Sevens head coach.
More recently, Zangqa was the head coach of Narvskaya Zastava, who are based in St. Petersburg.
