Forgotten Scotland wing to make first appearance in 22 months for Glasgow Warriors
Glasgow Warriors have welcomed back former Scotland winger Lee Jones, who is set to make his first competitive appearance for the PRO14 side after a 22-month injury lay-off.
The Selkirk man will make his 83rd outing for the Warriors when they play the Cardiff Blues at Rodney Parade on Sunday, after a brutal knee injury in a 9-3 win over the Ospreys at Scotstoun in January 2019 put pay to over a season and a half of rugby for the now 32-year-old.
Jones, who has earned 10 caps for Scotland since his debut in 2012, has scored a total of 17 tries for Glasgow Warriors in his 82 appearances to date. He also featured in three Commonwealth Games Rugby Sevens tournaments for Scotland, at Delhi 2010, Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018.
Head Coach Danny Wilson told glasgowwarriors.org: "This weekend we welcome back guys like Lee, Jamie, Kiran from injury, and Huw Jones returns from Scotland camp.
"For 70 minutes last week it was a two point game and we fell away at the end. Tomorrow is a real opportunity for us to improve on our recent performances.
"We know the Blues will present a tough test for us, and we know that we'll need to bring the energy and intensity I know this squad is capable of."
Centre Huw Jones is named amongst the replacements after his release from Scotland camp.
