Former Wales lock goes the whole hog to help NHS

As the UK rallies in support of the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic, former Wales and Harlequins lock Olly Kohn has done his part by handing out free sausage and bacon rolls to workers.

The one-cap Wales international has been at Southmead Hospital in Bristol this week with his company The Jolly Hog to thank the NHS workers for their “amazing work”.

On their Twitter page, they wrote: “From the doctors, to the cleaners, to the nurses to the therapists, each day these workers are putting their lives on the line to look after our own.”

The 39-year-old set up the business in 2008, while still playing at Harlequins, producing high-end sausage and bacon products alongside his brothers.

This is yet another example of how people are reacting to the current crisis and the ways in which people are showing support for the NHS.

Kohn retired from rugby in 2013 after over 100 appearances for Harlequins, which included winning the Premiership with the London club and a Six Nations title with Wales in 2013. The 6'7, 138kg lock won a single cap for Wales that season, after declaring for the country via a grandfather from the Rhymney Valley in Wales.
