Four more Scotland internationals sent to South Africa
Four Scotland internationals have been flown to South Africa to join Edinburgh in their United Rugby Championship (URC) tour of the Rainbow Nation.
Mike Blair side's are flying high after making history by claiming the first-ever victory by a European side in the URC, with a convincing 21-5 victory over the Sharks in Durban.
Two tries from Scotland international Blair Kinghorn and another try from Los Pumas international Emiliano Boffelli sealed the victory in a rain-soaked Durban.
The win brought the Sharks' four-match winning streak to an end.
Scotland internationalists Grant Gilchrist, Stuart McInally, WP Nel and Darcy Graham have now joined Edinburgh Rugby’s touring squad ahead of Saturday’s URC match against the Emirates Lions at Emirates Airlines Park in Johannesburg.
Head Coach Mike Blair, said: “It’s great all four guys have linked up with the squad here in South Africa. Their experience will be key as we prepare to face a really strong Emirates Lions team that is playing with confidence.
“We were obviously delighted with the win against Cell C Sharks on Saturday but it’s a new week and we’re now fully focussed on the task at hand. We’ve got a massive week of training ahead of us in Durban before travelling to Johannesburg later this week.”
Edinburgh back row Ben Muncaster was chuffed with the win over the Sharks but said the side are now looking for a second victory against the Lions.
“This is a two-game tour, this isn’t finished. The Lions are an extremely good side and it’s extremely hard playing in high altitude in Johannesburg.”
Fifth-placed Edinburgh moved two points behind Glasgow, who lost in Cardiff despite scoring four tries and leading by 13 points.
