Freak gym accident rules Zander Fagerson out for 8 weeks
A freak accident will see Scotland and Glasgow prop Zander Fagerson face up to eight weeks on the sideline.
Glasgow did not address the cause of the injury directly, merely saying: "Scott Cummings and Zander Fagerson suffered hand and foot injuries in training earlier this week. After seeing specialists at BMI Ross Hall Hospital, neither player requires surgery and both face a recovery period of up to eight weeks."
However reports are suggesting that Fagerson's injuries cames as a result of a freak gym accident.
STV Sports in Scotland have reported that a weights bench fell on his foot during a gym session.
It's a major blow for Scotland, as tighthead Fagerson had been enjoying a rich vein of form with the national side. Eight weeks out would mean the prop would only be back in contention for Scotland's last two Six Nations games.
He made his debut for Glasgow in a 43-20 victory over Treviso in Italy in 2014, coming off the bench to make a debut to remember as Glasgow were down to 13 men and held on for victory.
In January 2016 Fagerson was called up for the first time to the Scotland squad ahead of the RBS Six Nations, and has now among the side's first choice frontrows.
He is a product of the High School of Dundee, and represented the school at under-16, where he helped the school to win the Brewin Dolphin Plate before moving to Strathallan. His impressive rugby credentials were further enhanced by selection for Caledonia at under-16 and under-18, while the powerful prop has also represented his country at the same age groups. He was part of the sides that played Ireland and England in early 2013, starting at tight-head in both matches, and has represented Glasgow Hawks in RBS Premiership during the 2013/14 season.
According to the Glasgow website outside of rugby, Fagerson won the 2010 Scottish Downhill Mountain Bike Championship (2010).
Glasgow current injury list includes: Brian Alainu’uise (knee), Fraser Brown (head) Scott Cummings (hand), Alex Dunbar (knee), Zander Fagerson (foot), Callum Gibbins (achillies), Stuart Hogg (hip), Rory Hughes (shoulder), Sam Johnson (jaw), Lelia Masaga (knee), Leo Sarto (shoulder), Tommy Seymour (foot) Tim Swinson (hand) Ratu Tagive (Achilles), George Turner (suspension) and Ryan Wilson (ankle).

Think it was a great defensive performance by Northampton. They didn't have stage fright in the first half, the Nienaber defense smothered them. They limited Leinster to 15-3 in the first half. It could have been over by then. A great try from Leinster in the start of the second half looked to have sealed it. But Byrne missed another conversion. Northampton started trying little kicks behind the Leinster wingers. Leinster messed one and Smith brilliantly made the conversion. Leinster decided to tighten the game after Byrne missed a straight forward penalty. A few errors got NH into the 22 and they scored and converted with a few minutes left. Another brilliant steal from Lawes saw NH have a final attack which was turned over by Conan. A classic semi final. World record attendance of 82,300. Leinsters 3 week preparation warranted for this one.
