Gallagher Premiership to be suspended on Monday - report

Premiership Rugby is expected to follow the other long-established professional club leagues and announce a coronavirus-enforced break from next Monday.
Super Rugby called an indefinite suspension to its 2020 season on Saturday, two days after the PRO14 led the way with a postponement that was followed on Friday by the French stopping their Top 14 programme.

The Gallagher Premiership, though, suggested it would be business as usual regarding its round 14 of matches, starting with Friday’s Ashton Gate meeting between Bristol and Saracens.
However, with this Sunday’s Premiership Rugby Cup final at Sale now postponed due to a Harlequins staff member presenting flu-like symptoms and placing themselves in self-isolation, the Daily Telegraph is reporting that the league’s schedule round 14 and round 15 fixtures will be postponed on Monday.
It’s believed league officials will then reassess the issue to see if the tournament can be resumed on the weekend of April 11, the weekend after the still scheduled European Champions and Challenge Cup quarter-finals.
It’s said there is an appetite to extend the season further into the summer than its current June 20 final in order to finish the league fully, particularly as the interest in playing matches behind closed doors has dwindled.
In a series of tweets on Saturday, Premiership Rugby stated: “There was only one scheduled game this weekend, so with that postponed we decided to take the weekend to review the most up-to-date guidance and make a well-informed decision early next week.
“We are following the most senior medical advice from Public Health England and DCMS. Safety and the wellbeing of fans, players and staff is our first concern.
“We’re working closely with DCMS and Public Health England. The game this weekend is postponed, so it’s sensible to wait for the latest advice so we can make an informed decision for the rest of the season. Safety is the first concern and nuances of a decision are important.”

Time for Razor to go before it’s too late. Test rugby is levels of magnitude up from Super rugby, and one simply does not make that transition with a snap of a finger. Boy is out of his depth and is hurting NZ rugby…
