Galthie to take over from Ford at Toulon
Fabien Galthie will take over as director of rugby at Top 14 giants Toulon next season after it was agreed not to extend the contract of head coach Mike Ford.
Former Bath boss Ford initially joined Toulon as backs coach last September before swiftly replacing Diego Dominguez as head coach following a poor start to the season.
However, Toulon confirmed in a statement that Ford will not be in charge next season and will instead focus on "another project".
Toulon subsequently announced that former Stade Francais and Montpellier coach Galthie, who made 64 appearances for France during his playing career, is to become director of rugby and will be assisted by Fabrice Landreau and Marc Dal Maso.
Galthie led Stade to the Top 14 and Heineken Cup finals during his first season and the club were domestic champions in 2007 under his stewardship.
He also helped Montpellier to the Top 14 final in 2011.

Absolutely injury was affecting Cane’s performances.
But if you are going to do that, you have to acknowledge Foster’s role in the moments that went right.
During his tenure, comments sections were packed with how the latest win had nothing to do with Foster it was all his assistants.
And when they lost, you’d think Foster and Cane were the only two people on the field the way the public carried on.
Christ it was embarrassing.
