Head Coach Gregor Townsend has added six players to the Scotland squad for the 2018 Autumn Tests.

It comes after injuries sustained by Scarlets back-row Blade Thomson (head) and Harlequins centre James Lang (rib) as they represented their club sides at the weekend, while David Denton (Leicester Tigers) and Matt Scott (Edinburgh) continue their ongoing recovery from head injuries with their respective clubs.

Scotland have also confirmed Edinburgh trio Ross Ford (hooker), Henry Pyrgos (scrum-half) and Dougie Fife (wing) have been released back to the club.

In a major boost Stuart Hogg is fit enough to rejoin the squad following ankle surgery. The two-time Six Nations Player of the Year picked up the knock in Glasgow’s 25-10 PRO14 win over Munster on September 7th.

Also joining up with the Scotland this week are a trio of Hogg's Glasgow Warriors team-mates - Adam Ashe (back-row), Scott Cummings (lock) and Nick Grigg (centre).

Last weekend's 21-10 defeat to Wales was outside the international window, which meant Premiership pair Josh Strauss (Sale Sharks back-row) and Duncan Weir (Worcester Warriors stand-off) were unavailable, but now return to the fold for the game with Fiji at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Scotland also play South Africa on November 17th, with Argentina visiting Edinburgh a week later.
