'Huge announcements coming' at Wasps - Goode

By Ian Cameron
Willie Le Roux

RugbyPass columnist and former Wasps playmaker Andy Goode has hinted at big changes on their way at the Ricoh Arena.

The club have had a difficult time on and off the pitch this season. They are set to lose Nathan Hughes, Elliot Daly, Willie Le Roux and Jake Cooper-Woolley among others at the end of the season, and are badly in need of some good news.

And that's exactly what Goode - speaking on a RugbyPass Facebook live session - has said they can expect in coming weeks.

"There is going to be some changes in and around the club, I believe. Watch this space, there are some big announcements to be made, huge announcements to be made," said Goode, who is still involved behind the scenes at the Coventry based club.

Goode was asked about Dai Young's future at the club and whether he'll be in charge next season. "Yes, of course he will, he signed a contract extension, obviously he is missing a fair few players again, a load of key injuries this season in various different positions.

"I was a little bit disappointed with their performance at home to Sale but having said that Sale played very well at times, their attacking intent was quality.

Later in the session Goode again alluded to 'big' changes at the club. "Some decent changes over the next few weeks, some big announcements. I am privy to certain things that I cannot say here... but big news coming Wasps fans way, good news as well.

"Brilliant news actually."

He also spoke about Liam Sopoaga's move to Wasps and how he's been faring on at 10.

"It's horrendously tough for Lima Sopoaga this year," said Goode. "They expected him to sign and play with Jimmy Gopperth outside him at 12, running the show with him, Dan Robson on his inside, Joe Launchbury in the second row, Tommy Taylor at hooker, Nathan Hughes at eight, Daly in the team regularly, Christian Wade on the wing, he's gone. Massive, massive changes, loads of injuries and he's gone 'there you go mate, you run the show'.
