Ireland send two home as 43-man training squad named for Italy

Ireland have sent home two players to their respective provinces as Joe Schmidt named 43-man training squad named for Italy.

Ultan Dillane and Rory Scannell have both been returned to their provinces.

The Ireland squad enter their first match week and have returned to their usual Maynooth training base after completing five tough weeks of pre-season training.

To date the squad has completed two training weeks at Carton House, a week at Connacht Rugby’s base in Galway, a week in UL at Munster’s training base and week at the IRFU’s new High Performance Centre in west Dublin along with two regeneration weeks in between.

Ireland play the first of their two Guinness Summer Series Test matches against Conor O’Shea’s Italy at the Aviva Stadium this coming Saturday at 2.00pm.
