Perpignan today confirmed the signing of Paddy Jackson, the former Ulster, and Irish star has signed a two-year deal with the French side.

Since last week it had been reported that the out-half had been in talks with the Catalan club.

Both club and player are in a rebuilding process, with Perpignan not having played in the top flight of French rugby for four years and Jackson rebuilding his career following being acquitted of rape charges earlier this year.

The signing was confirmed through the clubs official website in the following statement:

"Paddy Jackson, in the tradition of the Irish fly-half knows how to put his individual skills at the service of the team," a club spokesperson said.

"He is a skilled kicker and Paddy will bring to the team, his international experience."

Ex-teammate Stuart Olding signed a two-year deal with French club Brive last week, who will play their rugby in the second tier of French rugby next season.

Both Jackson and Olding had initially been believed to have been close to signing with Sale in the Premiership, but a reported inquiry by the Sale Shark's main sponsors - AJ Bell - appeared to put an abrupt end to the deal.

For Jackson the deal was reported to be in the region of £340,000 per annum, it is yet unclear how much Jacksons move to Perpignan is worth to the 26-year-old.
