Jasmine Joyce scored two second-half tries as Wales celebrated their recent contract announcement with a 23-5 win over Japan at Cardiff Arms Park.

The Welsh Rugby Union announced deals for 25 players last week and they responded with a dominant display which will stand them in good stead for next Saturday’s clash with South Africa.

Wales captain Siwan Lillicrap gave her side a dream start when she touched down inside the opening minute after a driving line-out.

Two penalties from Elinor Snowsill stretched the Welsh lead to 11 points at the interval.

Joyce stepped up the pace in the second half with two tries, the first of which was converted by Snowsill.

The Japanese, who had seldom threatened, finally got on the scoresheet late on when Seina Saito crossed the line.
