Eddie Jones has questioned whether Marland Yarde is in the right frame of mind to be considered for England selection following his Harlequins departure.

Yarde joined Sale Sharks this week, with former England captain Chris Robshaw saying the wing had “run out of lives” after missing training sessions and adding that Quins will be “in a better place for it”.

Jones is expected to add to his squad on Sunday after Jonny May sustained an injury during a training camp in Portugal but Yarde looks likely to miss out once more.

“We left Marland out because Denny [Solomona] has scored more tries than him,” Jones told Sky Sports.

“Now he’s been in that difficult situation with his club, and whether psychologically he’s in the right spot to come and compete for a spot with England, we have to assess, so therefore we could look further afield.

“It has been a difficult time for him. When you’ve played for a club from a young age, it’s been the club that you love, and then you move away, it’s like the end of a marriage and sometimes you need a period to reassess and re-evaluate your life, reset your goals.

“Maybe he’s going through that now and coming to the England camp is intense. He’s got to compete for a spot, he’s got to be at his absolute best.”

England host Argentina in their first Autumn Test on November 11.

With the will comes the path. They need to get smarter about plundering young talent.

AFL is insane with it's core skills. Scout them and get them at the right age and on to a rugby pitch.

A positive going in this series could get a generation of kids back into what should be their national sport.

I was of the understanding that you respect yourself by respecting your opponent.

The wallabies have been degraded since this tour was confirmed. I hope that added motivation is the extra 5% that gets them over the line and wins this series.

That domestic AU comp is going to be big for Oz rugby once pathways are clearer for young dudes I imagine we will see some more 10s come thru, to much talent with an oval ball over the ditch…if I am being honest Dan at NSW didn’t help the cause by not playing Tane really at all? but guess he symptomatic of Oz 10s lately imo yea we all looking for some flashy stuff control the game but they just gotta be better and braver on the tackle would help the cause immensely I reckon

I was prepared for some very lean years once Joe left Ireland and although the cycle reached it's end, getting utterly bolloxed in his last game was not what he deserved.

It's to Farrell's absolute credit that he took them up a level. He's a likeable, forward thinking and capable guy but Joe achieved as much with what was a lesser squad across his time. He has a wicked sharp rugby IQ. Their 2018 form, for me, eclipses their 2022/23 run and it’s all on Joe. He played to their limitations rather than their strengths.

The swashbuckling return of the Oz attacking play in SR is misdirection. Their forwards were the business and well reflected in the team of the season.

I think they will suprise many in the series. The upcoming home RWC isn't a pressure but an added positive motivation. Their journey begins now and I really think they'll turn up for these games.

Somehow she has 2m followers. But yes I agree she is pretty bang average compared to a lot of other athletes competing in this comp. They should write some actually interesting stories about why teams are so good rather than totally ignoring it as a game rather than a spectacle.

You're the only person hailing it as the toughest world cup victory ever against a team of fourteen, missing it's captain.

Ridiculous claiming the officials favored every other team in the knockout and the Allblacks in the final.

The reality is the Boks are the first world cup winner to have scored no tries and beat a team of 14 that scored tries and had points removed.

I get it you can say it doesn't matter but it's not the sort of victory to be presenting as some sort of dominant performance.

In the same way no Allblack supporters think the 2011 win was anything but by the skin of it's teeth.

Two less world cups? That was self inflicted, and let's not talk about the number of Boks banned for steroids.

I get it that Rassie has cornered the market on siege mentality / everyone's out to get SA / I'm Moses leading the team to help build a nation, dynasty.

Boks deserve the number one ranking and clearly did enough to win the world cup. Jasper didn't want to play at Eden Park so let's see who's willing to get on the plane to play against fifteen Allblacks.

For last years PNC I was reading Fiji teams that reported French based players had made themselves unavailable to prepare for next season. What happened to last weeks Portugal side? They seem very different to the team that took on South Africa and did well last year, where they missing France based players?

Great analysis, Nella! B&IL has so far used 40 players, including backs and forwards, during its Australian tour. These tours demand extreme physicality, and in that context, Pollock emerged as one of the system's most consistent revelations. Far from being a fringe player, he logged over 200 minutes of field time, and did so with remarkable consistency, at least in my view. His individual work rate was the highest among B&IL's flankers, and his performance placed him above the expected standard for that role. Compared to names like V. D. Flier, Morgan, or Curry, Pollock displayed a more sustained and efficient workload. In my opinion, he didn't just intervene more: he intervened better and with greater quality. Cheers, everyone!
