Hendrikse brothers steal show vs Bulls after Stormers ease past Lions
A Jordan Hendrikse penalty gave Sharks a 20-17 victory over Bulls in the United Rugby Championship.
Jaden Hendrikse’s try and five points from the boot of brother Jordan gave Sharks early momentum in Durban, but Bulls led 14-10 at the breakthrough scores from Cobus Wiese and Harold Vorster and two Johan Goosen conversions.
Goosens’ penalty extended that advantage to seven points, but a penalty try levelled matters before Jordan Hendrikse landed the decisive kick 10 minutes from time.
Earlier that day, the Stormers ended a four-game winless run by beating the Lions 29-10 in the United Rugby Championship.
Carbon-copy tries from Joseph Dweba, powering over from two mauls, and a smart Suleiman Hartzenberg finish gave the hosts a 15-0 interval lead in Cape Town.
Lions wing Edwill van der Merwe and replacement hooker Franco Marais crossed after the break, but Stormers secured a bonus point through Leolin Zas before Neethling Fouche added a fifth try, with Manie Libbok landing two conversions.
