Jordy Reid poised to become latest Championship player to secure Premiership deal
Jordy Reid is poised to become the latest Championship player recruited by a Gallagher Premiership club as Gloucester have lined up the Australian on a two-year deal from Ealing Trailfinders.
The 28-year-old flanker has shone for the London club since his arrival in 2018 and he is expected to be a direct replacement for Jaco Kriel, who will head to the Super Rugby Lions at the end of the season.
Alec Clarey, the 26-year-old prop at Jersey, could also be making the step up to Premiership life at Kingsholm as he has been linked with a switch from Jersey following previous stints at Hartpury and Bristol.
Gloucester have yet to officially confirm the Reid deal but is it believed be fait accompli for the dreadlocked back row, pending a medical.
He initially earned his stripes with the Super Rugby Rebels and represented the Melbourne franchise in their 2013 match with the touring British and Irish Lions.
With Aaron Hinkley also set to depart Kingsholm along with Kriel, Reid’s arrival is set to be a timely addition of someone capable of competing with Lewis Ludlow and Jake Polledri for a starting jersey.
