The results are in on a scan taken of Jonny May's worrying shoulder injury

Leicester Tigers have issued an update following a worrying injury to England ace Jonny May early in their derby day victory over midland-rivals Northampton Saints.

Tigers claimed a 23-15 victory at Twickenham, but May worryingly left the field after just nine minutes of game time.

A forlorn-looking May left the field clutching his right arm, and underwent a scan shortly after the game.

However Leicester have issued an update that will come as welcome news to both Geordan Murphy and England heacoach Eddie Jones.

Leicester stated: "Jonny May has had a scan and, thankfully, there is no break in the shoulder.

"The winger will be assessed further early next week, from which we will know more and provide an update once available."

May has established himself as a key member of a successful England squad and was named by head coach Eddie Jones in his training group for the November Internationals.

A natural finisher, May has scored nine tries in 27 games for his country. For former club Gloucester, May scored 62 tries in 138 games, including 41 in 91 Premiership Rugby appearances and five in the European Champions Cup.
