Louis Rees-Zammit has opened up about his next steps in a on-air interview with ITV, suggesting a decision on his immediate future could be made within the coming days.

Currently a free agent after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the former Wales speedster has been weighing up his options since the end of the season.

The 23-year-old made headlines when he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in March of last year, switching codes in a bid to play as a running back. While he made an impression at the franchise, after a squad reshuffle he lost his spot and joined Jacksonville, changing position to wide receiver.

Though released at season’s end, Jacksonville has since offered Rees-Zammit a deal for 2025. While he may return to the Jaguars, he has also been linked with a move back to rugby union and another NFL team may yet take a punt on his athletic abilities.

Speaking before the Super Bowl, Rees-Zammit admitted the past year has been a whirlwind both mentally and physically. However, he says he is still relishing the challenge of learning a brand-new sport – despite acknowledging how tough the transition has been.

“Yeah, I’m looking for options,” Rees-Zammit said. “I think in the next week or so we’ll make a decision on where I am next year. But this past year has been crazy. A crazy experience. Mentally and physically it’s been tough, but it’s a journey I’ve always wanted to be on so I’m loving it.”

“Trying to pick up a brand-new sport within three months is pretty tough, especially trying to play catch up with all the boys that are playing now. It’s been a very tough year, but it’s one that I’ve learned so much from. I can really look forward to this year coming.”

From the sounds of things, his preference is to stay in the American code.

“I’m definitely active [in trying to find somewhere]. That’s why I said next week my decision will be made, so hopefully I’ll find a team then and look forward to pre-season.”

The Welshman appeared to enjoy his recent Super Bowl experience, where he was spotted mixing with celebrities such as One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson.

Personally he has made his bed let him lye in it . At the end of the day one person is not going to turn the Welsh team into its former glory .

Looking forward to be reading about him, when it becomes a rugby topic again.

Until then, I see this as an article, that belongs to nflpass.

Good on him for having a go at his dream, but snubbing playing and earning as a rugby international is pretty darn privileged thing to do. Most players dream of playing for the lions etc, this chap just doesn’t get how incredibly lucky he is. He will come back and I hope he realises how lucky he is to play top international rugby.
