NFL-hopeful and Welsh rugby superstar Louis Rees-Zammit has been handed an NFL lifeline, signing an active roster deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars for 2025.

After being cut by the Kansas City Chiefs following his initial switch and journey through the IPP (International Player Pathway), Rees-Zammit landed with the Jaguars practice squad throughout 2024, even travelling with the team for their London fixture.

The Jaguars have now signed Rees-Zammit for their active roster where he will go through the off-season schedule in an attempt to make the final 53-man roster for the next NFL season.

"I'm excited to extend my stay in Jacksonville by signing for another year," Rees-Zammit said, "While I know it was a tough season on the field for the team, I think I made some great progress with my own game, and I'm looking forward to continuing the hard work and advancing my skills even more, and believe that Jacksonville is the place for me to do that.

"The future looks bright with the Jaguars with the appointment of Coach Coen and the rest of the staff, and honestly, I can't wait to get back to it."

This will be Rees-Zammit's second full season of American Football. He officially changed his position to wide receiver once joining the Jaguars after initially trialling as a running back.
