Montpellier have signed 28-year-old Scotland international D'arcy Rae as a medical joker in lieu of an injury to Georgian rookie Lacha Macharashvili.

Born on December 21 in Irvine, Scotland, the 186cm, 126kg prop began his rugby life at domestic level in Scotland with Marr, Ayr and Kilmarnock RFC. After playing his first professional games with the Glasgow Warriors in 2013, he joined Bath in the 2021/2022 season.

Rae played 28 games with Bath and arrives this summer on the banks of the Lez as a "medical joker".

A seasoned scrummager, Rae is renowned for his set-piece and his exceptional ability to clear out at the ruck.

Spending spells on loan at Treviso and London Scottish, the prop has featured 85 times for Glasgow Warriors and earned his international debut for Scotland in the 2019 Guinness Six Nations.

Rae’s knowledge of the game extends to coaching, with the 26-year-old gaining experience as a non-playing member in Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend’s first squad in 2017 and as forwards coach at Marr.
